Fiona Clark: The Pumpkin Register
Saturday 23 November
Fiona Clark: The Pumpkin Register
Artspace Aotearoa
11am - 1pm
Fiona Clark will be presenting a one-day performative installation called The Pumpkin Register, a residue from The Bill, an exhibition from our 2016 programme. As part of her work she recycled all of the available copies of The Bill into pumpkins.
I grew long-keeping pumpkins from family seed stock last summer at the old Tikorangi dairy factory that is my home. While grown organically, the compost I made included shredded paper related to environmental hearings and campaigns I have been involved with and an art publication from Auckland - past documents that I felt added nothing to my archive collection. Often meaningless, occasionally poisonous words are repurposed to a nourishing mix for the most prosaic of crops - the unpretentious pumpkin. Not only is the flesh still edible, the seeds can be sown for a further crop this summer.

Fiona Clark will be in attendance to exchange the Pumpkins.
