In consideration of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland returning to Alert Level One status, Artspace Aotearoa has a new date to celebrate the opening of three programmes running in our main gallery, the Cinema downstairs and on the East Street mural wall. We are delighted to welcome you on Friday 19 March from 6pm - 8pm for the official opening celebration.

There will be a soft opening of I Think You Like Me, But I’ve Been Wrong About These Things Before by Natasha Matila-Smith on Wednesday 24 February at 11am.

You are invited to join us for a blessing of the space that will be facilitated by Tūī Matira Ranapiri-Ransfield.

Manawa i te Kāniwha, a mural by Abigail Aroha Jensen and Georgina Watson is now finished and ready to view on the East Street side of the Artspace Aotearoa building.

From Friday 27 February 2021 we will be showing Un-Documented: Unlearning Imperial Plunder
by Ariella Aïsha Azoulay in the downstairs Cinema.

Last but not least we present Jade Townsend as our very first Artist in Residence, as part of our ongoing commitment to support and partner with local and international art practitioners. This kicks-off an exciting new programme for 2021 and 2022 which will see a new and revitalised international and local residency space emerging at Artspace Aotearoa.

We feel very lucky to have the opportunity to share this show with you and are grateful to everyone for doing their part in ensuring the safety of our community during this short and sudden lockdown.
