Quishile Charan leads a lino-cut and printing workshop
In this afternoon workshop you’ll learn a simple fabric printing technique with textile artist Quishile Charan. Artspace Aotearoa will supply all materials, including test fabric and tote bags for you to take home. Bring along any items you’d like to print yourself, such as t-shirts or any other kinds of fabric. We will be using water-based fabric ink, but do wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy.
This event is free to attend. RSVP is essential as spaces are limited. Refreshments provided.
Showing as part of our current exhibition Scores for Transformation, Quishile Charan is an Indo-Fijian textile maker, researcher and writer living in Aotearoa New Zealand. Charan’s practice focuses on sustaining the shared cultural practices of craft, a knowledge system which she inherited through being her Aaji’s (grandmother) namesake. Charan has exhibited widely across the motu as well as in Melbourne, Sydney, Mumbai, Gwangju, Berlin and Vienna.
