2025 Volunteer Programme: Call for expressions of interest

Artspace Aotearoa is seeking expressions of interest for our 2025 Volunteer Programme.

The Artspace Aotearoa Volunteer Programme is an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience within the contemporary arts sector. As an artist-led organisation, we offer a space to engage with, contribute to, and learn from the arts community in Aotearoa.

In 2025, we are inviting up to 20 volunteers to join a single cohort for the entire year. Over the course of the year, you’ll be inducted into the workings of Artspace Aotearoa and will have the opportunity to contribute to projects, events, and gallery operations, all while learning from a diverse group of artists and arts professionals.

  • Gain early professional experience by being involved in the inner workings of Artspace Aotearoa
  • Support gallery operations, with a special focus on engaging visitors with exhibitions
  • Participate in events, such as activating artworks, our public programmes, powhiri and blessings
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as managing and inventorying our archive and reading room
  • Build relationships with artists, arts professionals, and the Artspace Aotearoa team, all of whom bring different expertise and perspectives
  • Be part of a volunteer cohort where you can collaborate and connect with others who share similar interests and passions

Artspace Aotearoa will provide:

  • Training and an induction process that ensures you understand our mission and how you’ll contribute
  • Offer ongoing support throughout the year, with opportunities for feedback and growth
