Artspace Aotearoa seeks Manahautū General Manager

We are looking for an energetic, focused arts management professional to join Artspace Aotearoa as Manahautū General Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small team and play a key role in our dynamic organisation located in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

About Artspace Aotearoa

Artspace Aotearoa is a leading non-profit contemporary art organisation located in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Karangahape Road. Founded in 1987 by artists, it centres the ways in which art contributes to our understanding and reimagining of the world in which we live. Artspace Aotearoa runs a rigorous annual programme of exhibitions that are enriched through public programmes, screenings, online publishing, and residencies. It works within a specific city context, and spirals out into national and international conversations that promote practices that present emancipatory world views. With a specific focus on developing an intergenerational kaupapa, Artspace Aotearoa seeks to present established, emergent and under-recognised positions. Artspace Aotearoa acknowledges the provisions of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and as an organisation we support and value Indigenous creative practices within Aotearoa New Zealand and abroad.

About the role

The Manahautū General Manager works closely with Kaitohu Director to ensure the evolving expression of our artistic and strategic priorities by honing in on developing and expanding robust financial frameworks appropriate for a non-profit arts organisation and streamlining our day to day operations with holistic processes that effectively support achieving our high standard of deliverables. As part of the team, the Manahautū General Manager works to deliver a dynamic, empowering exhibition programme in a safe and professional manner to our diverse publics.

About you

As part of a small team you are energetic, organised, agile and have a nuanced understanding of collaborative and self-led work. You have a demonstrated high level of refined financial acumen and fluency and significant experience in the arts at an operational level, ideally in a senior management position. You have a strong interest in continual learning about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and seeking opportunities to uphold and implement this across Artspace Aotearoa. You are solutions orientated and work to develop sustainable, innovative strategies to evolve our organistion. You are committed to developing holistic practices in the workplace.
