Prompts travels to Te Papa

Our first exhibition of the year, Prompts featuring artwork by Lubaina Himid and Michael Parekōwhai has travelled to Te Papa Tongarewa. Alongside the artworks by Himid and Parekōwhai which were shown earlier this year at Artspace Aotearoa, Atarangi (1990) from Te Papa's collection has been added to the presentation. Atarangi and The Indefinite Article were both included in the seminal exhibition Choice! (1990) curated by George Hubbard at Artspace Aotearoa as part of the sesquicentenary celebrations for the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Treaty of Waitangi.

Prompts is on show in Toi Art at Te Papa until 5 October 2025

This exhibition is presented by Artspace Aotearoa in association with Te Papa and with the support of the British Council New Zealand and the Pacific and Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki.
