Cash & Carry Fundraiser
Cash & Carry
Thursday 12 December
6pm - 8pm
Artspace Aotearoa Cash & Carry with Samoa House Library and Vunilagi Vou
In December, Artspace Aotearoa is mounting a blind cash & carry fundraiser as a part of our 2019 Summer Programme. This event, which will run for 2 hours from 6pm on Thursday 12 December, is a unique opportunity to fundraise for two partner organisations and allow people to buy an amazing and affordable work of art.
The purpose of the cash & carry is to raise for funds for 2020 programming initiatives for Samoa House Library and Vunilagi Vou, who we are collaborating with on this event. All of the works included will be sold for $200, with half of the proceeds going back to the artist, and the other $100 split between Samoa House Library and Vunilagi Vou. As this is a blind cash & carry, the works will not be announced before the event, only the names of the participating artists.
With this money, Samoa House Library plans to support direct restorative action for Samoan identities and culture through facilitating and hosting free language classes in collaboration with Noa Aiono. Vunilagi Vou plans to travel to the UK where they are producing a show for a design studio in London and will be visiting Lubaina Himid and the Making History Visible archive (https://makinghistoriesvisible.com/), which is a huge inspiration for Vunilagi Vou as they wish to activate contemporary Pacific art ephemera of the last twenty years.
